Multicultural Science Programs in the College of Science facilitates the pursuit of science-oriented careers. It is the goal of these programs to increase representation from ethnic groups that are traditionally under-represented in the sciences. The College of Science values diversity and feels that students who study science in a diverse environment have a better academic experience.

Championing Diversity Awards

 

On Wednesday, April 13th we honored students in receiving the Championing Diversity Award. The Championing Diversity Award is given to students who have been active participants in the programs sponsored by the Science Diversity Office over several years of their career at Purdue. Through participation in these programs they have enriched the experience of their classmates by ensuring that all students have the opportunity to be educated in a more diverse environment. They have grown personally and professionally by taking leadership roles within the College of Science.

48th Annual Awards Program

On Saturday, April 15th, Purdue University Black Caucus of Faculty and Staff held its 48th Annual Awards Program. We would like to recognize this year's College of Science honorees.
 
2023 Distinguished Science Alumni Awards
On Monday, April 17th we honored alumni who are motivating the next generation of Purdue Science students. This year it was held at the Convergence Center in West Lafayette to celebrate the honorees, Imani Lawrence (student in Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences) welcomed the attendees and Interim Dean Jean Chmielewski gave remarks. Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, Lucy Flesch, presented the awards. 
 

End of Year Celebration Dinner 






On Wednesday, April 19th we celebrated our students, special recognition went out to our graduating seniors. This year we gathered at the Convergence Center in West Lafayette to celebrate our incredible students and their accomplishments. Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, Lucy Flesch gave remarks and Associate Director of Diversity, Natasha Harris presented the awards. 
 
Purdue Black Graduate Student Association
22nd Annual Awards & Recognition Banquet
 
On Saturday, April 29th, The Purdue University Black Graduate Association celebrated the accomplishments of its members during their annual awards and recognition banquet.
Atheena Jenkins is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry at Purdue University. She is a computational chemist who enjoys solving interdisciplinary problems with cutting-edge computational methods and data science tools.  Solita Wilson is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Chemistry at Purdue University. She was the recipient of the Dr. Johnny E. Brown Membership Award. This award is given to a BGSA student who demonstrated commitment to all BGSA sponsored events and programs.
