We are working together to improve health outcomes across Purdue and beyond through a cross-disciplinary approach that enables Purdue to leverage its unique assets.

Health Empowerment summit – past summits

We held our first summit virtually in January 2022.  Our second summit was held in February 2023 and was our first in-person summit event. Our third summit was held in February 2024 in-person on the Purdue West Lafayette campus. Our fourth summit was held in February 2025 on the Purdue Indianapolis campus.

Food for Health Education Summit brought together experts to explore how food and equitable access shaped chronic disease prevention, management, and overall health throughout the lifespan. Together, we examined the connections between nutrition, wellness, and the unique health goals of Hoosiers — from early life through older adulthood — and discussed actionable strategies to build healthier communities across Indiana.

THE 3rd Annual Health Empowerment Summit

The 3rd Annual Health Empowerment Summit focused on partnership. Over 10 speakers from diverse sectors highlighted their health empowerment work, providing perspective on a local, state, and national level. Former NIH director and former science advisor to the President of the United States, Dr. Francis S. Collins served as our keynote speaker. His fireside chat demonstrated the value of health empowerment in clinical trials. The full session may be viewed below.
