About the Boiler Success Team

The Boiler Success Team is a collaboration of individuals who bring diverse perspectives and a shared commitment to issues related to undergraduate student success. An initiative of the Office of the Provost, the Boiler Success Team is open to all interested students, staff, and faculty.

Our Mission

The Boiler Success Team brings attention and action to issues that drive
the academic and career success of all Purdue undergraduate students.

Our Vision

The Boiler Success Team is a network of individuals from across Purdue’s campus committed to advancing educational opportunities for all undergraduates.

  • Supported by a university invested in their success, students will face fewer barriers to timely degree completion as they navigate their own path to a meaningful degree.
  • Faculty will find help to connect students needing assistance so they can focus on student learning and engagement.
  • Staff will trust that their perspective and knowledge about student success are shared, valued and respected.
  • University administrators will see the Boiler Success Team as a means of improving communication and collaboration across units, and a group they can turn to for generating, evaluating, and implementing initiatives.

Our History

The Boiler Success Team evolved out of several earlier initiatives, including:

  • The Foundations of Excellence initiative
  • Purdue’s participation in the University Innovation Alliancewhose goal is to graduate more low-income students, first-generation students, and students of color.
  • “Campus Partner” meetings sponsored by the Office of University Undergraduate Advising that brought together Head Advisors with other Purdue student affairs professional.
  • Retreats sponsored by the Senior Vice Provost for Teaching & Learning to identify and discuss potential barriers to timely graduation.

Our Process

The Boiler Success Team addresses challenges and opportunities identified by university leadership by:

  • Facilitating cross-functional collaboration, bringing diverse perspectives and insights to bear on questions related to student success.
  • Inviting student input through the participation of the BST Student Advisory Board.
  • Incorporating process mapping and/or design thinking approaches to define problems and investigate possible solutions.
