Scholarship Opportunities for International Students

Due to a citizenship requirement, international student often do not qualify for a large number of scholarship or grant opportunities. However, there are still opportunities out there for international student to receive aid money. It will be important for your student to pay close attention to the citizenship requirements before applying to a scholarship or grant opportunity. Students should also note that any aid received is taxable by Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and students will need to file a tax return.

The National & International Scholarships Office (NISO), housed in the Honors College, assists all students with funding opportunities. NISO helps students ensure they are completing applications to their fullest potential and can assist with proofreading or completion or a scholarship application. Check out their website for additional information on scholarships for international students.

Many departments at Purdue also offer scholarships for students. Have your student check with their academic advisor to see if they qualify for a scholarship hosted by their department.
