New fields coming to Concur Travel and Expense, TripLink reminder
Enhancements in Concur Travel and Expense will go live on Oct. 20 to better support Purdue’s travel program, including use of the Purdue University Airport, and improve reporting.
Features within Concur Travel and Expense include new fields in the airport expense type and TripLink connections for business travel and loyalty programs.
New fields in the Airport Expense type
When submitting an expense report that includes airfare on or after Oct. 20, travelers will be prompted to:
- Select the departing airport.
- If applicable, provide the reason for using an airport other than West Lafayette/Purdue University Airport (LAF).
This information will help Purdue Travel understand travel patterns and continue to strengthen business travel options.
Purdue University Airport benefits
Faculty and staff are encouraged to use the Purdue University Airport for all flights as it provides low-cost parking, a convenient location with reduced commuting time required and quick TSA lines compared to other airports. Additionally, use of Purdue’s airport supports one of the university’s strategic initiatives and the local economy.
Purdue University Airport promotions
Those traveling for business before January 31, 2026 can earn United Airlines bonus miles through a current promotion.
The Purdue University Airport also supports personal travel for the public and Purdue community. Faculty and staff who are booking personal travel by December 31, 2025 can save up to 10%.
More information about current promotions is available on the Purdue Travel website.
TripLink
Available now, TripLink serves as a bridge between participating booking platforms, Purdue’s travel discounts, personal travel rewards programs and business travel expense reports – all through the Concur platform. Travelers are encouraged to opt in to the TripLink feature in Concur to receive the benefits summarized below.
- Through TripLink, travelers connect their Purdue business profile to Concur, along with personal travel rewards/loyalty programs for participating travel providers (review instructions). This gives travelers flexibility in booking business trips.
- After accounts are connected, travelers will continue to book through the travel provider’s direct website or app. When business travel is selected as the travel type through the booking platform, Purdue’s negotiated rates and discounts will automatically apply to reservations.
- Reservation expenses for participating travel providers will link to Concur Expense for a simplified expense report process. This includes United flights booked out of the Purdue University Airport, along with participating rental car and hotel providers.
- Linked program accounts allow travelers to book directly with participating travel providers while earning personal status benefits like points and miles.
- With details synced in Concur, Purdue has a Duty of Care record for the traveler in case of emergency.
- A free subscription to the TripIt Pro app is included with more details available in a recent article.
