Ready to Become a Boilermaker?
Is this a self-paced program?
Yes. This is an asynchronous, self-paced online course with no live instructor. The schedule is flexible, allowing learners to complete coursework and assignments at their own pace and on their own time.
Who is this program designed for? Do I need any technical background to succeed?
These are introductory courses designed for anyone interested in the subject. For the technical courses, it’s recommended that learners have a college-level background in advanced math and programming to fully benefit from them.
How do I enroll in this program? Can I enroll at any time? Who should I contact if I have any questions about the program?
Yes, you can enroll at any time—there is no application process. Simply use the registration link to sign up for your selected course. After completing your registration and payment, you’ll receive a confirmation email. Course access will typically be granted within one to two business days. Please reach out to the enrollment counselors for information on discounts, promotions, bundle pricing, or any questions regarding the AI Micro-Credentials program.
Will I receive a certificate after completing each course?
Yes. Learners will receive a course completion certificate and a digital badge upon successfully completing each course. The certificate and the digital badge are delivered within the awards tool in Brightspace, Purdue’s learning platform. You can share your digital badge on LinkedIn to showcase your achievement.
How long will I have access to the course?
While each course typically takes about 15 hours to complete, you usually have access to the course materials for one full year from the date of enrollment.
What is the assessment method?
The only required assessments are multiple-choice quizzes, with typically one quiz per module (the number of modules varies by course). Some courses may also include optional activities; however, these are not graded. Students must earn 80% on the assessment to open the next module.
Is there a specific order I need to follow when taking the courses?
There isn’t a mandatory order you need to follow. That said, the suggested pathway below moves learners sequentially through three phases: Foundational/Conceptual Context, Core Technical Skills (Math/Theory), and Applied/Specialized Skills.
- Phase 1: Foundational Understanding and Context (Non-Technical Focus); Take courses from the Foundational Non-Technical Bundle.
- Phase 2: Core Technical Skills and Theory (Mathematics and Modeling); Take courses from the Foundational Technical Bundle
- Phase 3: Applied and Specialized Skills; Take courses from the Applied Technical Bundle.
