Nick Walters was awarded the Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in Austria on the IES-Vienna: Psychology in Vienna program. While there, he will be able to study the evolution of psychotherapy in the city of the field’s birthplace. Vienna contains multiple museums of interest such as the Narrenturm and Alfred Adler Center International that are must-see destinations for any psychological history enthusiast. He looks forward to enhancing his knowledge of sports psychology through the program’s hands-on learning methods.

 

Nick is a person of many talents. He plays on Purdue’s rugby team. Vienna has a rugby team that he hopes to participate in as a student there. Sports is his favorite way to build connections and lasting relationships across borders.

 

Student athletes at Nick’s former high school are a group that he hopes will consider studying abroad through Gilman after presenting to them on his experiences as his proposed his follow-on project.
