Megan Johnson was awarded the Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in Tanzania on the Education Maymester in Tanzania program. While there, she will be both a student and an educator with opportunities to teach conservation and STEM in local schools. Following her interest in conservation, she looks forward to seeing Tanzania’s land features and wildlife first-hand.

 

Not limited to academics, Megan enjoys participating in athletics. At Purdue, she plays ultimate frisbee, and she anticipates being able to share this sport with her local community in Tanzania. She believes sports can provide a great opportunity to converse and connect across cultures.

 

With her interest in visual learning and giving back to Purdue Promise, Megan intends to create mini magazine for her peers as her follow-on project.
