The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides post-baccalaureate funding for 8-12 months for individuals to study, research, or teach abroad while promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding.

Recipient of the Open Study/Research Award, Zoe will complete a dual degree program offered jointly through the Schools of Engineering and Design at the Politechnic University of Milan, Italy. Persistently preparing to be a design engineer who works on international projects, Zoe saw a dual reward in both the opportunity to integrate engineering and artistic design and to immerse herself in another culture: “The ability to bridge cultural and language gaps in future projects will be invaluable and help set me apart as an industry leader in design.” Zoe intends to continue her research in a PhD program upon returning to the United State.

At Purdue, Zoe studied Italian enroute to a minor with an eye toward preparing for this moment. Already an avid hiker, including Haleakala crater, a 3,000-foot volcano in Hawaii, Zoe plans to join the university hiking club and looks forward to hiking the Italian Alps.
