Julie McAulay applied to the Fulbright U.S. Student Program as a Purdue alumna who is completing a master’s degree in forestry at The University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.  Upon the foundation of a Boilermaker education, Julie builds on both her major in Environmental and Ecological Engineering and a minor in Spanish by persistently pursuing the research topic, “Restoring Honduran Pine Forests: Post-Disturbance Regeneration and Management Strategies.”

In collaboration with faculty at The National University of Forest Sciences in Siguatepeque, Honduras, Julie sees this research as the beginning of a career that combines applied forest management with research across North and South America. Among her reasons for choosing this location is her interest in dance.  Julie seeks to gain a deeper understanding of Honduran culture through her interests both in dance and in forestry.
