Xavier Lopez was awarded the Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in Japan on the Osaka University Short-term Student Exchange Program. With Japan’s status as a global leader in information technology and innovation, this program is perfect for him as a student in this field. While in Osaka, he also looks forward to partaking in the city’s vibrant food culture and visiting its important cultural heritage sights.

 

An avid American Football enthusiast, Xavier looks forward to sharing his love of the sport with his community in Osaka. Since Osaka University has an American Football team, there is an opening for him to build connections and engage in cultural exchange.

 

As Xavier’s proposed follow-on project, he plans to present his experiences with his program and Gilman to his peers.
