Paige Liebel’s research interest in the Optimization of Performance in Female Soccer Players reveals more than her experience as an accomplished D1 soccer player at Purdue. Building on the foundation of her Boilermaker Engineering education, Paige applied to the Fulbright U.S. Student Program as an alumna with a clear vision of how she intends to conduct research in sports science as a segue into becoming a physician. Collaborating with faculty in the Sprots Science Department at the Universität Innsbruck, Paige will use data analytics and computer programming skills to adapt an existing machine learning model for elite female soccer players. Her experience as a competitive athlete not only informs her research topic, but also fuels her desire to be engaged in community at the international level.
