Offered the Gilman Scholarship, Jeremy Huff fulfilled this mission by seeking to accomplish through study abroad what he was unable to pursue as a minor. Despite the demands of his major, Jeremy saw an opportunity to grow in his ability to listen to patients from the experience of cultivating his cross-cultural communication skills through study abroad.

A native of rural Indiana, Jeremy grew up with a unique perspective informed by his parents, who are from Kentucky and the Philippines, respectively. Drawing on his childhood memories of reading manga, watching anime, and blasting Japanese music in his room, Jeremy pursued the opportunity to study abroad in Japan.

For his follow-on project, Jeremy planned to take this investment in his education back to his hometown of Deputy, Indiana. With the intention of reaching local students, Jeremy proposed to offer events at his elementary school, the local public library, and even the Ivy Tech campus, located in nearby Madison.
