Established in 2001, the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is committed to sending American students of limited financial means from all backgrounds to study abroad.

 

A’dreana Howard received a Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in South Korea as part of the Seoul, South Korea Global Internship Program. This program aligns with her interests in publishing and design as she will be able to intern with one of three major companies that will propel her towards her future aspirations as a publisher and designer.

 

A’dreana’s dreams of publishing and writing involve working with world literatures and supporting international representation in the market. Having been to Japan previously to learn more about manga publications, she is eager to return to East Asia, this time to South Korea. Familiar with Korean and Japanese pop culture media, she looks forward to expanding her understanding of the social, historical, and cultural spheres of the region.
