Abbey Hall joined the ranks of more than 400,000 Fulbrighters who have gone abroad to conduct research, study, or teach in one of 165 partner countries since 1946.
Abbey was offered a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) grant to teach in Spain. Having studied Spanish for more than a decade, she continues to prioritize obtaining Spanish proficiency and learning more about the different regions and cultures of Spain. Although COVID-19 disrupted her study abroad program in Spain, she looks forward to returning, this time on a Fulbright.
As an aspiring language teacher, Abbey seeks to encourage expression and freedom of thought in her classroom. Advocating for animal rights showed her the value of researching and communicating important truths. She knows what it is like to face challenges in language learning and finding one’s voice in classroom discussions. Through meeting her students where they are, she is prepared to create an environment that supports multilingualism.
