Lydia Farmer was awarded the Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in Austria on the IES Vienna Summer - Psychology program. As the birthplace of psychoanalysis and home of Sigmund Freud, Vienna is the perfect destination for this psychology major. Besides taking classes, she will be exploring the physical landmarks that are must-see destinations for any psychological history buffs.
From taking the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) assessment to reflecting on her experiences as a student orientation leader, Lydia brings experience and commitment to building connections and relationships. She is well prepared to thrive in Austria.
Being part of Purdue Promise fuels Lydia’s idea for her follow-on project. Along with her peers in the program who have studied abroad, she hopes to organize a panel to share resources and experiences with other student members who have not yet gone overseas in hopes of demonstrating that study abroad is possible for them, too.
