Grace Bronnenberg was awarded the Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in Ireland on the Role of Horses in Irish Culture and Society program. As an aspiring equine veterinarian, this program is perfect due to its focus on the horse industry in Ireland’s culture. She looks forward to connecting with professionals in the field and developing her cultural competence.

 

Ireland holds special interest for Grace with her family history. Irish culture and folklore have mesmerized her since childhood, and she is excited to have the chance to get to explore the country for herself. Even more so perhaps is the opportunity to partake in Ireland’s food specialties since food and culture are closely intertwined.

 

For her proposed follow-on project, Grace plans to create a website which will host a blog that she hopes will increase awareness of her program and Gilman and lead to more students considering studying abroad.
