With the Fulbright Study/Research Award in hand, Maz Agrawal has plans for his next several giant leaps toward his long-term career aspiration to develop state-of-the-art rendering techniques and to accelerate the assimilation of extended reality. Preparing for this moment, Maz sought not only to be in a “City of Science,” but also a creative cultural hub. He found this place in Darmstadt, Germany, where he will pursue a project entitled, “Integrating Generative AI Models with Neural Networks to Create Realistic VR Environments.” While Maz anticipates enrolling in a doctoral program in Computer Science, he saw the rich cultural experience available through a Fulbright year as a tremendous growing experience both personally and professionally. In addition to joining a local ensemble as a flautist, Maz has plans to engage in community through multiple facets: “I look forward to connecting with other scientists, artists, and art historians over discussions of Darmstadt's Photography Days—one of the most important photography festivals in Germany—and perhaps even submit my own work.”
