President Chiang to receive honorary doctorate from Dartmouth

President Mung Chiang has been selected to receive an honorary Doctor of Science from Dartmouth during its commencement ceremony on June 9. Chiang is among nine recipients being recognized for their significant contributions to the sciences, medicine, business, the humanities and society.

Each year prospective honorary degree recipients — scholars, artists, innovators, public servants, philanthropists, and others who have made extraordinary contributions to their respective fields and society at large — are nominated by members of the Dartmouth community. Nominations are reviewed by the Council on Honorary Degrees, which selects the honorands in consultation with the president and the Board of Trustees.

Chiang has also been named this year's recipient of the Robert Fletcher Award, Dartmouth's Thayer School of Engineering’s highest honor.

Chiang previously received research awards, including the 2013 Alan T. Waterman Award, 2014 Guggenheim Fellowship, 2012 IEEE Tomiyasu Technical Achievement Award and 2022 IEEE INFOCOM Lifetime Achievement Award.
