Reminder: Proposal processing/deadline policy: Start your proposal early

Proposal Deadline Stages Proposal deadline stages. Download image

Principal investigators are writing proposals at record levels. Sponsored Program Services Pre-Award has partnered with principal and co-principal investigators to process and submit a record 2,095 proposals totaling $1.4 billion over the past six months up 46% over last year. This has created an extraordinarily high volume of proposals in the pipeline.

Faculty and staff are reminded that it is critical to get proposals completed and submitted to Sponsored Program Services Pre-Award early in order for proposals to be reviewed and submitted by the sponsor deadline. Proposals from principal investigators already in the queue need to be prioritized ahead of those that are outside of the deadline policy. As a result, late proposals may not get reviewed or processed in time to meet the requirements of the agency.

Deadlines for each stage of pre-award can be online. Exceptions to the policy will not be granted except in extraordinary circumstances.

More information about SPS Pre-Award is available on the SPS Pre-Award webpage. Questions should be directed to Amanda Hamaker at ahamaker@purdue.edu.
