New Purdue Airfare Card available Jan. 23 for those without university-issued travel card; registration open for information sessions

Employees traveling on official university business who do not have a Purdue University Travel Card (TCard), which may include infrequent travelers, graduate students and undergraduate students with paid appointments, will be able to make airfare reservations in Concur using a new Purdue Airfare Card beginning Jan. 23

Travelers will not physically receive a Purdue Airfare Card, as it is automatically loaded into a user’s Concur profile. Anyone with a Concur profile will have the ability to charge airfare on the card. The booking process in Concur will not change, and there is no special action that needs to be taken to use the new card.

The Purdue Airfare Card can only be used when self-booking airline reservations through Concur. The card may not be used when booking through third-party services or AAA Corporate Travel, Purdue’s partnering travel agency. If a traveler tries to book a hotel and/or car rental at the same time, the system will prompt for an additional personal card to be used for those accommodations.

When compiling a travel expense report, the airfare charge will be waiting in the traveler’s unassigned expenses with a payment type of “PU Airfare Card” and needs to be added to the traveler’s expense report after travel.

Travelers that have a TCard should continue to use their card for travel-related expenses. TCard holders need to select “Corporate Card” from the payment drop-down menu when confirming their airfare selection in Concur, otherwise the PU Airfare Card will be the automatic payment default for air expense.

Purdue Travel will host information sessions to provide a card overview and answer questions. The virtual sessions will be held at the following dates and times, and registration is now open:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 24: 1:30-2 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 25: 10-10:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, Jan. 26: 10-10:30 a.m.
  • Tuesday, Jan. 31: 10-10:30 a.m.
  • Thursday, Feb. 2: 1:30-2 p.m.

A Quick Reference Guide is available to help travelers book airfare with the Purdue Airfare Card. Questions may be directed to Purdue Travel at 765-494-7354 or purduetravel@purdue.edu.
