Featured live sessions geared toward newer, longer-term employees as part of Road to Retirement begins Wednesday

The spring 2023 Road to Retirement three-day virtual conference runs this week from Wednesday through Friday (March 29-31) to offer faculty and staff financial wellness and retirement planning resources no matter where they are on the path to retirement.

Attendees will find sessions that speak to Purdue newcomers, as well as topics geared toward employees further along in their Purdue careers. The wide variety of presentation topics offers helpful information for all employees.

Those interested can choose as many of the sessions as they’d like to attend throughout the three-day conference. Individuals should register for all sessions they plan to attend. Registration is available through the schedule link provided below. 

Featured live sessions for employees based on length of service

Although there are many topics to choose from, and all are welcome to attend each presentation, employees who are within the first five years of their career or service time at Purdue may find the following live, virtual sessions of particular interest:

  • Wednesday, March 29

      (Specific to PRF employees)

    • 3 p.m. Purdue University – Target Fund Investments 
  • Friday, March 31
    • 11 a.m. Boost Your Retirement Savings With an HSA
    • 1 p.m. Put the Power of NetBenefits to Work for You
    • 2 p.m. Understanding Roth vs. Pre-tax Contributions: Is a Roth Contribution Right for You? 

The following featured live sessions are aimed toward employees within 10 years or less from retirement, but all employees and retirement planning partners are welcome to attend:

    • 9 a.m. PURA Healthcare Plans for Medicare-eligible Retirees
    • 10 a.m. Understanding Social Security Retirement Benefits for Purdue University

      (Specific to Purdue employees with a TIAA account prior to January 2011)
    • 9 a.m. Under 65 Retiree Health Care Options (Encore presentation)
    • 10 a.m. PURA Health Care Plans for Medicare-eligible Retirees (Encore presentation)
    • 11 a.m. PERF Overview (Specific to bi-weekly paid Purdue staff hired prior to September 2013, and all bi-weekly paid police and fire employees)
    • 1 p.m. Fidelity – Turn Your Savings Into Retirement Income: How to Plan for the Income You’ll Need in Retirement
    • 2 p.m. Understanding Social Security Retirement Benefits (Encore presentation)
    • 3 p.m. Staying Connected in Retirement
