Open enrollment for 2023 benefits ends Tuesday; enroll by 6 p.m. ET
There’s still time to actively enroll for 2023 benefits. Open enrollment for 2023 benefits ends at 6 p.m. ET Tuesday (Nov. 8). Reminder information for Purdue University and Purdue Global employees regarding open enrollment is outlined below.
WEST LAFAYETTE, FORT WAYNE AND NORTHWEST EMPLOYEES
Employees may sign on to Benefitfocus via the OneCampus portal (select the “Benefits Open Enrollment for Faculty & Staff” banner) using their Purdue career account username and BoilerKey or via the Benefitplace mobile app. Watch the Benefitplace App video for more information.
Note: Be aware of a current system issue within Benefitfocus that is affecting the rate summary information for medical insurance. Many employees have reported that after they complete their enrollment, the summary of medical rates is showing higher than it should be. This is a known issue, and Benefitfocus is working on a solution. Hopefully, the issue will be resolved before the end of open enrollment; however, there is no reason to delay enrolling. Employees should continue to complete enrollments by 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday (Nov. 8). A communication will be sent out once the issue is resolved. Correct rates will be charged in January. Again, employees are encouraged to complete their enrollment for 2023 benefits now.
Except for health savings accounts, health reimbursement accounts and flexible spending accounts, current benefits will roll forward into 2023 unless employees log into Benefitfocus and make new selections. Those who wish to have an HSA, HRA or FSA must log into Benefitfocus and elect them for 2023.
The Tobacco Survey and Working Spouse Certification must be completed, as answers could impact premiums. Employees who do not complete the Tobacco Survey and Working Spouse Certification each year during enrollment will be charged the tobacco-user additional premium (for both employee and spouse, if covered) and the working spouse premium (for spouse, if covered) the next plan year.
Additionally, employees are encouraged to double-check which dependents they are covering on each benefit. Employees must select the green bubble (with dependent’s name) for each benefit for which they would like their dependent to have coverage. Once enrollment is complete, employees should review the summary to ensure their dependents are listed and have benefits coverage as intended.
Note on term life: For those who have requested to increase their term life benefits, a health review process called Evidence of Insurability (EOI) is required to ensure they can be approved for the increased coverage. This process shows up at the end, after someone completes their enrollment, but does not currently allow the completion of the process. Securian will follow up with anyone who needs to complete the EOI process a few weeks after enrollment ends. However, Benefitfocus is capturing the enrollment choices for all other benefits.
The dedicated open enrollment 2023 website has information and resources to help individuals complete their enrollment.
