Systemwide forum planning committee seeks proposals for breakout sessions

The 2022 faculty and staff systemwide virtual forum is scheduled for Sept. 29.  The theme is “Meeting Students Where They Are: Promoting Learner-Centered Success and Belonging.”

The goal of the forum is for participants to deepen their understanding of learning-centered success and belonging, share strategies for meeting students where they are and identify ways to take action and implement what is learned.

The forum features three keynote talks and five breakout sessions. The planning committee invites proposals from members of the Purdue system open to offering their experience and expertise regarding topics and activities for the breakout sessions.

Each session will be 20 to 40 minutes long and are expected to:

  • Focus on learner-centered success and belonging.
  • Offer practical exercises, activities and applications with specific take-aways for attendees.
  • Include interaction and engagement with the participants (beyond a Q&A at the end).
  • Foster connections among diverse participants.
  • Provide evidence-informed insights.

Multiple formats are possible, including short “lightning round” sessions (five-minute slide or poster presentations) as well as presentations, workshops and roundtables.

Proposals must be submitted through this Qualtrics Survey no later than 5 p.m. Aug. 26.

Elements of the submission should include title, short description, session objectives, contact information, and abstract (300 words max) that addresses the bulleted points above and describes the engagement technique planned for session participants.

Proposals will be blind reviewed by the task force committee. All individuals submitting a proposal will be informed about decisions by Sept. 1.
