Sugary drinks such as soda, sports drinks and even juice are commonplace in the American diet. Unfortunately, these sugary drinks are wreaking havoc on the health of Americans.

In an effort to help the Purdue community reduce their sugar consumption, Melissa Covarrubias, behavioral health counselor at the Center for Healthy Living on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus, is leading a Healthy Boiler workshop titled “Cutting Down on Sugar.”  The workshop is at noon to 1 p.m. ET on June 29 and supports the physical health and behavioral health pillars of the Healthy Boiler Program.

“Join me for this workshop to learn about the overall effects sugary drinks have on our bodies, what it looks like when sugar becomes an addiction and how to cut back on unhealthy drinks,” Covarrubias says.

Those interested in attending should register by June 28 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. The registration link can be found under the “Healthy Boiler Workshops” section on the portal’s homepage. Hover over the workshop’s square and hit “Submit” to register.

Healthy Boiler workshops are free to all benefits-eligible employees and dependents covered on a Purdue health plan.
