Healthy Boiler workshop to focus on breathing exercises for relaxation

The upcoming Healthy Boiler workshop “Breathing Exercises for Relaxation” will take place from noon to 1 p.m. March 18. The Mayo Clinic reports that breath practices are a great way to become more in touch with mind, body and spirit.

The interactive workshop, led by Lindsay Bloom, health coach at Purdue Fort Wayne, will cover the health benefits of deep breathing. Attendees will also learn deep breathing techniques for stress reduction and relaxation. The workshop supports the behavioral health and physical health pillars of the Healthy Boiler Program.

“Breathing exercises will increase your oxygen exchange, which in turn reduces your blood pressure, slows down your heart rate and relaxes the abdomen,” Bloom says. “All of these things can also help your mental well-being by turning your attention to the present.”

Those interested should register by March 17 via the Healthy Boiler Portal. The registration link can be found under the “Healthy Boiler Workshops” section on the portal’s homepage. Hover over the workshop’s button and hit “Submit” to register.

In addition, SupportLinc offers the Color Breathing Exercise for Stress Relief article as a resource, as well as many others for behavioral health support and care.
