Third Annual Conference for Associate Professors set for March 4-5

The Susan Bulkeley Butler Center for Leadership Excellence in collaboration with the Office of the Provost and ADVANCE-Purdue will hold the Third Annual Conference for Associate Professors on March 4-5 in a live virtual format. The conference title is "Expand Your Sphere of Influence by Becoming a Full Professor."

The COVID-19 pandemic has compelled a shift to a virtual platform in 2021. The structure of the live virtual conference is the same as in past years. The conference will include a keynote address, panel session and a National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD) workshop about building a publishing pipeline. Over the course of the conference, there will be opportunities to network, share information and learn from others in ways that will enable women associates to accelerate their progression to full professor. Although this conference targets women associates, the strategies and insights offered by the keynote speaker, panelists and in the workshop will be useful for all faculty members.

Conference details include:

  • Keynote address: Ana Mari Cauce, president, University of Washington.
  • Panel session: "Conversation about Being Promoted to Full Professor."
  • Workshop: "Building a Publishing Pipeline: Concrete Strategies for Increasing Your Writing Productivity," conducted by Erin Furtak, professor of STEM education and associate dean, School of Education, University of Colorado Boulder, on behalf of NCFDD.

The conference is free for Purdue faculty, who must email butlercenter@purdue.edu for the code before registering. Faculty from outside Purdue will pay a registration fee.

More information, including the conference schedule, workshop and panel session, is available on the conference webpage.
