Don't Miss It!

Barry Barish Barry Barish, Nobel Prize-winning speaker

A Nobel Prize for a discovery only two years earlier makes waves. In the case of work led by Barry Barish, who will speak this week in Purdue's Ideas Festival, the detection of gravitational waves involved longer history -- 100 years since Einstein predicted them, and 1.3 billion years that the waves traveled from two colliding black holes to Earth. Barish's talk about this giant leap is part of Purdue's Ideas Festival and speaks to "Giant Leaps in Space: Earth, Exploration, Economics," one of the four IF themes -- the centerpiece of the Giant Leaps Sesquicentennial Campaign.
