Discovery Park Undergraduate Research Internship program seeking fall semester proposals

Discovery Park is accepting proposals from faculty on the West Lafayette campus for its Undergraduate Research Internship program, which supports undergraduates in working with faculty-led teams to investigate problems in the strategic areas of global security, health and sustainability.

Faculty project proposals for fall 2018 projects should focus on these thematic areas. Each project should involve two or more distinct academic disciplines (represented by faculty from different departments) and at least two undergraduate students. No faculty cost-sharing will be required.

Interested faculty can submit abstracts for individual projects online, using their Purdue Career account credentials to log on. The deadline for proposal submissions is July 30. Funded projects will be selected by Aug. 1.

Undergraduate students may then apply for up to three projects Aug. 1-20. Faculty project supervisors will review all eligible student applications before making final selections. Each participating student will earn a $1,000 fall semester fellowship from the DURI program.

More information is available on the DURI website. Faculty should direct any questions about the program to Peter Bermel at pbermel@purdue.edu. Students with questions about the program should contact LeAnne Williams at lewillia@purdue.edu.
