Cooking demonstrations available for Purdue faculty, staff, students

The Demonstration Kitchen at the Córdova Recreational Sports Center will hold a series of summer cooking demonstrations in June and July.

The Demonstration Kitchen strives to make cooking accessible to everyone by demonstrating delicious recipes and menus that are quick, easy and affordable. A variety of demonstrations and programs are provided in order to accommodate varying interests, ages and abilities.

Each demonstration will provide the opportunity to participate in an interactive cooking experience, sample four to five delicious recipes, and take home recipe cards. The summer sessions are:

* June 12: Super Salads
* June 27: Cooking with Quinoa
* July 12: Vegetarian Meals
* July 25: SuperFoods

Demonstrations are held 6-7 p.m. in the Demonstration Kitchen and cost $10 to attend. The demonstration classes are open to all Purdue faculty, staff and students, and membership at Recreation & Wellness (including "the Co-Rec") is not required to attend. Free parking is available after 5 p.m. in the Co-Rec parking lot.

To register, go online or visit the Member Services desk at the center.

Additional programs offered by the Demonstration Kitchen

Crockpot cooking demonstrations: Crockpot cooking demonstrations will be held this summer in the Demonstration Kitchen at the Córdova Recreational Sports Center. Menu and ingredients are provided. Participants take care of the prep work and leave with a meal for four in their crockpot. Participants without a crockpot can bring a container to take the meal with them to cook at home. Additional details are available here.

Private cooking demonstration: Private cooking demonstrations are ideal for staff or club retreats, residence hall programs, and sorority and fraternity programs. Cooking instructors will provide a fun and informative program for any group, and a variety of menus are available to choose from. The Demonstration Kitchen staff take care of the grocery shopping, preparation and cleanup.

Kitchen rental: Those looking for a fun and creative way to host a meeting, celebrate with a group or hold a team-building exercise can rent the Demonstration Kitchen. Cooking is a great way to gather friends and colleagues, and the Demonstration Kitchen is available to reserve for students, faculty and staff.
