Faculty can now submit Fall 2017 requests for large lecture and large active learning rooms

Requests from faculty wishing to use large lecture rooms and large active learning rooms, including rooms in the new Wilmeth Active Learning Center (WALC), during the fall semester of 2017 can now be submitted.

Faculty with questions or who wish to teach in WALC or any of the other 40 active learning classrooms across campus should contact their unit schedule deputies, who can work with the Office of the Registrar as needed. For class scheduling information and a list of departmental schedule deputies, go to www.purdue.edu/registrar/faculty/scheduling/class_scheduling.html.

The due date for submitting Fall 2017 requests for large lecture rooms and large active learning rooms is Jan. 17. Requests for smaller rooms generally follow within a few weeks to a month after the large room deadline.

The Thomas S. and Harvey D. Wilmeth Active Learning Center is scheduled to open in time for classes in the fall. The new building in the center of campus is specially designed for instruction using active learning methods. Within its 164,000 square feet of floor space are 27 classrooms that can accommodate classes ranging from 40 to 329 students. General details about WALC are available at www.purdue.edu/registrar/faculty/scheduling/wilmeth.html (and the links within), including floor plans and room descriptions.

Faculty may also consult www.purdue.edu/registrar/documents/scheduling/Spring_2017_Classroom_List_and_Large_Lecture_Rooms.pdf for a summary of the details of all of the centrally scheduled classrooms and lecture halls on campus, including the rooms in WALC.
