Purdue Today’s “Thumbs Up” series gives faculty and staff members the opportunity to recognize, thank and congratulate others for their outstanding service, support and performance across the Purdue system. This week’s “Thumbs Up” recipients are:

James Warwick

Thank you to crew chief Jim (Building Services) and his team for completing transformational floor scrub and wax projects this summer in the Physics Building. In addition to scrubbing and waxing all of the classrooms and hallways, Jim’s team rehabilitated several laboratory and office floors that now look brand new. Thank you, Jim, for providing excellent service and maintaining a safe and clean building in support of teaching and research. — Andrew Robison (Physics and Astronomy)

Dustin Richardson and Timothy Cornell

Thanks to Dustin and Timothy (both Building Services) for the superb job they did cleaning the carpets in Hanley Hall. They removed stains that have been here for a very long time! — Dave Topp (Military Family Research Institute)

Diane Hagan

As the senior instructional designer for Purdue Global’s School of Business and Information Technology, Diane has relentlessly supported the development of the new Doctor of Business Administration program, which at times required frequent updates, unusual demands and a hectic schedule. We could not do it without you! — Cuneyt Altinoz (Purdue Global — Graduate School of Business and Management)

Brandon Case, Micah Peercy, Curt Jansen and Isaiah Rosinski

Thanks to Brandon and Micah (both IT Infrastructure Telecommunications Services), Curt (Purdue Systems Security), and Isaiah (IT Infrastructure Enterprise Resources) for their help with getting the College of Pharmacy’s virtual servers back into communication with the rest of the world when the firewall became erratic. They found and implemented a fix while the vendor team was still going through logs. We really appreciate their help getting things back online. — Jeff Rattray (IT Research and Health Technology Services)

Gabrielle Padilla

I would like to recognize Gabbi (Talent Acquisition) for the support she provided while I led a hiring committee for the first time. Going into the process, I had a lot to learn, and Gabbi was there every step of the way. She was quick to answer questions, helped me work through unfamiliar situations and always made time when I needed guidance. More importantly, she approached every interaction with encouragement and positivity. What could have felt overwhelming instead felt manageable because I knew I had a trusted partner to turn to. Gabbi’s support gave me confidence throughout the search process, and her commitment to helping colleagues succeed made a lasting impact. I am grateful for her guidance and all she did to make the experience a positive one. — Joshua Dexter-Wiens (Liberal Arts)

Doug Matthews

We were making a delivery from the libraries to surplus, where Doug (Materials Management Distribution) works. He had found some library books that had made their way to surplus. He had been holding four rather expensive Purdue library books until he found a way to get them returned to the library. These books had been out of circulation for up to four years, and he was conscientious enough about the books to see they were returned. They are now back in the system. Thanks, Doug, for keeping an eye out for books from Purdue Libraries. — Doug Rice (Libraries)

Victoria Deardurff

Vicki (Building Services) has been doing an amazing job supporting both buildings at Herrick Labs while being short-staffed. She continues to support Building Services’ needs without exception, a smile and a positive attitude. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed, and you are greatly appreciated! Thank you! — The Herrick shop crew

Dan Kitchen and linen service assistants

I wanted to take a moment to once again express my gratitude to Dan (Dining) and the linen service assistants for all the extra help with laundering conference linens throughout the summer at Honors College. This really helped our operations and allowed staff to tend to other operational needs during one of our most demanding times of the year! My staff and I cannot thank you all enough! — Dakota Sexton (Building Services)

Allyson Goodrich

I want to thank Ally (Student Life) for always being so pleasant and helpful with the student worker hiring process. I never feel uncomfortable contacting her for assistance. She is always patient and friendly. She makes me smile when I talk with her. Thank you, Ally! — Kelly High (Finance)

Those who supported College of Engineering ceremony for summer graduates

We would like to give a Thumbs Up to a dedicated group of staff and campus partners who stepped up to recognize summer 2026 graduates from the College of Engineering in a special ceremony. Many thanks to Ginger Bolen, Caryn Morgan and Tyson McFall-Wankat (all Engineering) for organizing the event, along with faculty and leadership for forming the platform party. Thank you to our campus partners, including Zenephia Evans (Dean of Students), Loeb Playhouse, Elliott Hall of Music, the Office of the Registrar and Orientation Programs for venue, production, ticketing, regalia and logistics support. Thanks also to the following College of Engineering volunteers for staffing the event: David Bowker, LouAnna Eichrodt, Kristy Eaton, John Pearson, Jonathan Martz, Morgan Kuryla, Jaden Cords, Amy Wagner, Cindy Quillen, Johnathon Bower, Meghan Beals, Rebecca Yoder, Jackie McDermott, Colleen Coulter, Ashlee Zink, Michelle Indarjit, Tammy Siemers and Xiaomin Qian. — Nate Engelberth and Janet Beagle (both Engineering)

Building Services staff members in Honors College and Winifred Parker Hall

I wanted to take a moment to let my team know that I truly appreciate everything that they’ve accomplished this summer during our busiest time of the year. None of this would have been possible without them, and I cannot thank them enough for getting everything ready for the students to move back in for the academic year. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication; it doesn’t ever go unnoticed! — Dakota Sexton (Building Services)
