Purdue University unveils new programs in Indianapolis for fall 2025

Purdue University is continuing to expand its world-class higher education offerings in Indiana’s capital city with the announcement of new undergraduate and graduate program opportunities available to students starting fall 2025.
“As we continue to develop new and existing programs, we are interested in opportunities that maximize the strengths of Indianapolis’ entrepreneurial ecosystem, from industry partnerships that lead to internships to research and experiential learning opportunities that support and enhance central Indiana’s STEM workforce,” said Jeffrey Karpicke, the James V. Bradley Professor of Psychological Sciences and associate vice provost for Indianapolis.
Spanning multiple colleges and units, the new Purdue University programs in Indianapolis for the fall 2025 semester are:
- Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science
- Bachelor of Science in Integrated Business and Engineering
- Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Innovation
- Master of Science in Interdisciplinary Engineering – Sports Engineering Concentration
- Master of Science in Chemical Engineering – Pharmaceutical Engineering Concentration
- Master of Science in Software Engineering
This round of academic offerings includes six existing programs from the West Lafayette campus — one being Purdue’s actuarial science program, which offers a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum spanning mathematics, probability, economics, data analytics and statistics. University leaders are proud to bring the program — ranked the No. 1 actuarial science program in the nation by CollegeChoice.Net — to the capital city.
“The expansion of this prestigious Purdue program in Indianapolis represents a significant milestone, broadening access to world-class actuarial education in Indiana’s economic hub,” said Lucy Flesch, Purdue’s Frederick L. Hovde Dean of the College of Science. “This strategic growth will strengthen connections with industry partners, create new opportunities for internships and employment, and empower students in Indianapolis to thrive in one of the most in-demand and rewarding career fields.”
The announcement also marks the growing presence of the Mitch Daniels School of Business’ Integrated Business and Engineering program, which launched in fall 2021. Its availability in Indianapolis will fuel opportunities to collaborate with corporate partners, giving students the chance to build the skills recruiters demand from the next generation of technology and business innovators.
“We’re excited to offer our undergraduate degree program in Integrated Business and Engineering to a cohort on the Indianapolis campus,” said Jim Bullard, the Dr. Samuel R. Allen Dean of the Daniels School. “The program is one of the fastest growing offerings in our portfolio because it allows students to benefit from Purdue’s worldwide reputation in engineering and the STEM fields while mastering the intersection of business and technology.”
Joining the company of other academic programs offered only at the Indianapolis campus, such as the nationally renowned motorsports engineering program, the first-of-its-kind themed entertainment design program and the interior architecture program, is the Sports Engineering Professional Master’s Program, housed within the Ray Ewry Sports Engineering Center.
“The Sports Engineering Professional Master’s Program is unique,” said Eckhard Groll, the William E. and Florence E. Perry Head of Mechanical Engineering. “It’s a proper engineering degree, but it also encompasses all aspects of sports engineering — from biomechanics and materials science to management and legal aspects of the industry. And there’s no better place to get started than Indianapolis, which is home to multiple professional teams, headquarters of the NCAA and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.”
As it adds innovative and immersive academic programs that link industry to its world-class educators, researchers and students, Purdue University is continuing to accept proposals for academic programs in Indianapolis on a rolling basis and will release a formal call for proposals in January.
