News and Notes about Purdue University in Indianapolis
* Afshin Izadian, associate professor of electrical and computer engineering technology at Purdue University in Indianapolis, recently led a collaborative project with the goal of curing blindness caused by certain retinal diseases. The project, which created methods for delivering medicines via nanoparticles to specific locations to restore vision, received $350,000 in funding from the Falk Medical Research Trust.
* On Feb. 20, the College of Engineering held a town hall and meet-and-greet for all engineering students on the Indianapolis campus in the University Library Lilly Auditorium and Lower Level Lobby. Approximately 90 graduate and undergraduate engineering students attended the information session and meet-and-greet afterward with engineering faculty and staff from West Lafayette and Indianapolis.
* The Teaching Academy and Innovative Learning will host an open house Friday, March 1, from 10-11:30 a.m. in University Library, Room 1126. During the informal session, representatives from Innovative Learning’s Teaching and Learning Technologies and the Center for Instructional Excellence (CIE), including Tracey Birdwell, CIE’s new assistant director for Purdue in Indianapolis, will share current and future opportunities for teaching and learning support. Additionally, members of the Teaching Academy will share information about applying for membership as well as award opportunities. Participants are encouraged to explore offerings one-on-one with staff and faculty during the informal session.
