Events to highlight, seek feedback on new Experiential Education Community of Practice
Purdue’s new Office of Experiential Education is launching an Experiential Education Community of Practice and will hold two events to spread awareness and receive feedback about the endeavor.
A community of practice is a group of people who share a common passion for something – in this case, experiential education – and who learn how to do that thing better through interactions with one another, says Jennifer Dobbs-Oates, director of the Office of Experiential Education and clinical associate professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies.
The Office of Experiential Education will hold two events to launch the community and examine how it can best meet participants' needs and preferences. West Lafayette campus faculty, staff and graduate students who are active in or curious about experiential education are invited to attend one of the following:
- In-person session: 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 9), Wilmeth Active Learning Center, Room 1132.
- Online session: 3:30-4:30 p.m. Nov. 17 via Zoom. The Zoom link will be provided upon registration.
Those interested in attending are encouraged to register online. For more information, contact Dobbs-Oates at jendo@purdue.edu.
The Office of Experiential Education was created to carry out the experiential education portion of the Transformative Education 2.0 initiative. The office is part of the Office of the Provost, in the Teaching and Learning Division.
