It's a fall break sandwich. Classes won't meet Oct. 13-14, but campus entertainment and culture will be swinging before and after that. The lively experience of "Mamma Mia!" is heading this way from ABBA-land, but there's a plentitude of stimulating speakers and homegrown performers scheduled soon. From honoring a jazz legend for the ages to celebrating Halloween with all ages, Purdue Bands & Orchestras can cover the range. The Purdue Jazz Band will explore "The Music of Oliver Nelson" at 8 p.m. Friday in STEW, Loeb Playhouse. The Purdue Wind Ensemble will host the family favorite "Creepy Classics" -- costumes encouraged, and a parade and treats await -- at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Long Center. Free. Details
