WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Michael Berghoff, chair of Purdue Global’s Board of Trustees, announced during Friday’s board meeting (June 5) his intent to step down as chair, effective June 30.

Berghoff has served as chair of the Purdue Global Board of Trustees since the institution’s formation in 2017. He served concurrently as chair of Purdue University’s Board of Trustees for much of that time (2015-24) after being appointed a Purdue trustee in 2009.

“Purdue Global wouldn’t be where we are today without the vision and leadership of Mike Berghoff,” said Eva Nodine, Purdue Global’s CEO. “I’ve had the privilege to work with Mike over the years. His dedication to our students, faculty and staff is what has powered our growth, success and collaboration with Purdue.”

Berghoff helped oversee the acquisition of the online university’s assets and operations from Kaplan North America in 2018, bringing it into the Purdue system. As of May 2026, Purdue Global has more than 85,000 graduates and is seeing increases in enrollment and student success.

The board elected Michael Klipsch as its new chair. Klipsch also serves as vice chair of the Purdue University Board of Trustees. He is a Purdue University graduate who received his bachelor’s degree in industrial management in 1985. Klipsch has served on the Purdue Global board since 2018.

The board also acknowledged Paul Bott, who concluded his term earlier this year after serving as a Purdue Global trustee since 2017, having previously served on the Kaplan University board prior to the acquisition. Bott is a professor emeritus, California State University, Long Beach, who specializes in higher education consultation, administration, teaching and learning, management, and accreditation.
