Purdue University Provost Patrick Wolfe announced today (Dec. 11) that he has appointed Haley Oliver as senior vice provost for academic and student success as part of a restructuring to better support students and scholars across Purdue’s main campus.

This role encompasses both the Office of Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Scholars and the Office of Teaching and Learning within the Office of the Provost. Oliver will provide leadership in undergraduate education, academic affairs and student success, as well as lead efforts to amplify and accelerate the success of graduate students, professional students and postdoctoral scholars.

“Professor Oliver has done an outstanding job accelerating the success of our undergraduates, graduate students and postdoctoral scholars,” Wolfe said. “In this new role, she and her teams will have even greater opportunity to advance and enhance the success of students and scholars across our academic enterprise.”

Oliver has served as vice provost for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars since June 2024 and as interim vice provost for teaching and learning since September. She is also the 150th Anniversary Professor of food science and has held several other leadership roles at Purdue. Oliver has been recognized through numerous awards, including the USDA and Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities John Morrill Award and the USDA Food and Agriculture Science Excellence in Teaching Award. She is also the recipient of Purdue’s Corinne Alexander Spirit of the Land-Grant Mission Award, the Charles B. Murphy Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Award and the College of Agriculture Research Award.

“I am extraordinarily grateful for the opportunity to support two tremendous teams that are fully committed to student success,” Oliver said. “Serving both undergraduate and graduate students has given me a unique lens on the overlapping and distinct needs of our students. I look forward to continuing to build on the strengths of both teams to elevate outcomes for all students.”
