Chair’s Corner – October 2018

Brittany Vale

Happy October, Purdue!

I want to take a moment to thank everyone who took time away from their busy schedules to attend some of the APSAC-hosted events this past month:

-       Job Family Town Halls

-       Provost Akridge’s Lovell Leadership Series Presentation

-       Purdue Employee Resource Fair

I’d also like to take a moment to say thank you to all that provided feedback or reached out to an APSAC member in past month. We are here for you and it’s wonderful to see more engagement from Purdue employees. This month, I’d like to share a snapshot into what APSAC does throughout the year. Here are some of the tasks we complete each month:

January: APSAC Annual Report, start APSAC membership recruitment

February: Excellence Award advertisement, promote Hadley Leadership Series presentation, membership interviews

March: Hadley Lecture, review grant applicants, membership interviews, joint meeting with CSSAC

April: Elections, APSAC professional development activity, new membership mentor matching program

May: APSAC Recognition Lunch, Excellence Award, prep work for Resource Fair, prep new member orientation

June: New member orientation, update timeline, begin work on the Community Spirit Award

July: Trip to regional campus, accept Community Spirit applications

August: Prep for Resource Fair, plan APSAC professional development activity for the fall, promote Lovell series

September: Resource Fair, finalize Community Spirit Award, all subcommittees review goals for the year

October: Joint meeting with CSSAC, present Community Spirit Award, review grant applications

November: APSAC assessment survey, finalize fall grants, APSAC professional development dctivity

December: Update website for annual content

Each month, APSAC is also responsible for composing, drafting, and submitting the Sentinel to all A/P staff and for sending out welcome letters to all new A/P staff to the University. With the ever-shifting environment that is Purdue, APSAC is always keeping tabs on upcoming projects or changes that will affect Purdue’s employees.
