Center for Healthy Living, LiveHealth Online provide convenient, cost-effective care

Once again, we’ve entered the time of year when it seems to be dark all the time and everywhere we look someone is coughing or sneezing! Our health doesn’t always acknowledge that the holidays are hectic enough without having to deal with a cold, the flu or whatever other illness is lurking about.

Lucky for us, we have cost-effective resources available to us 24/7 should we need them.

Center for Healthy Living

All benefits-eligible faculty and staff, including those who do not participate in a Purdue medical plan, as well as spouses and dependents covered on a Purdue medical plan can receive care at the Center for Healthy Living (CHL) on Purdue’s West Lafayette campus. The CHL offers a wide range of services to treat common illnesses, manage chronic conditions, provide preventive care and promote overall health and wellness.

Appointments are available Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. While appointments are recommended and ensure shorter wait times, call ahead / same-day and walk-in appointment scheduling is also available. Lab hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please note, the CHL will be open during normal business hours during the 2018 winter recess.

Cost for care at the CHL is the most cost-effective means of treatment for any of the three Purdue medical plans.

  • Purdue Health Plan and J-1 Visa Plan participants
    • Care for a $10 copay

  •  Purdue Health Plan Plus HSA 1 participants
    • Care for a $40 flat fee – fee will be reduced in January
    • Fee counts toward your deductible
    • Once you satisfy your deductible, you pay $8

  •  Purdue Health Plan Plus HSA 2 participants
    • Care for a $40 flat fee – fee will be reduced in January
    • Fee counts toward your deductible
    • Once you satisfy your deductible, you pay $10


Benefits-eligible employees who are not covered on a Purdue medical plan are eligible for preventive and non-preventive care for $40 per service. The center will provide a receipt within seven to 10 days that you may submit for reimbursement to your outside medical plan.

LiveHealth Online

Another resource available to Purdue employees is LiveHealth Online, which offers medical care virtually. A visit with a doctor has never been easier or more convenient than with Anthem’s LiveHealth Online virtual doctor visit service. LiveHealth Online is a convenient way for you to talk with and get treatment from a doctor via your computer or mobile device. It is secure, private, easy-to-use and affordable.

Through LiveHealth Online, patients have access to live, instant or scheduled visits with doctors seven days a week, 24 hours a day from anywhere you have Internet access using two-way video conferencing.

Whether you are on the go traveling or at home in the middle of the night, LiveHealth Online lets you skip traditional office hours, the drive to an appointment and the wait time in a waiting room.  All for the same cost or less than what you would pay for a regular doctor visit.

A typical LiveHealth Online visit costs $49. This cost is the same regardless if you talk to a doctor day or night or on a holiday or weekend. If you are covered by a Purdue medical plan, LiveHealth Online visits are a covered benefit under your plan and breaks down as follows.
