Global Ambassador: Shamila Janakiraman

Shamila graduated with a PhD in Learning Design & Technology from the College of Education at Purdue.

During her time at Purdue, she was looking at the best educational technology that can be used to change attitudes and behaviors of young learners to make them environmentally friendly. Her focus was on using game-based learning to affect them emotionally and providing an artificial environment for testing their own behaviors.

Why did you choose Purdue?

The online Learning Design & Technology program was a huge attraction when I lived in Dubai. Also my son was a Freshman in engineering then.

Favorite fact about Purdue?

Beautiful campus. Very inclusive community of scholars. Friendly staff and faculty who respond to any query almost at once.

Career goal?

Become an educator, work to promote environment friendly behaviors.

Where do you spend most of your time on campus?

Beering Hall.

How do you recharge physically and/or mentally?

Physically - yoga; Mentally - watch a comedy movie.

What's the best advice you've ever received?

Never stop learning.
