A Hammond-based biotechnology company is teaming up with the University of Western Australia to develop drugs to help fight neurodegenerative diseases and spinal cord injury pain. Neuro Vigor focuses its research on neutralizing reactive aldehydes, which are key to the progression of diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Mark Van Fleet says there is a "great need for novel solutions and that's what we represent."

Haller Foundation, Walther Foundation donate $1.5 million to Purdue for endowed professorship in cancer biology

A $750,000 donation from the Henry E. Haller Jr. Foundation has endowed a professorship that will support the work of the Purdue Center for Cancer Research and the College of Science in cancer biology. The gift was matched by the Walther Cancer Foundation for a total of $1.5 million. The endowment will be known as the Boyce Haller Professorship.
