Police department offering free active threat training in October

The Purdue University Police Department is offering free, in-person training sessions for potential active threats and training to render aid to control bleeding of injured persons in October.

Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events, or CRASE, classes provide strategies, guidance and plan options for surviving an active threat event. Topics include the history and prevalence of active shooter events, civilian response options, and preparing in advance what your response will be.

“Stop the Bleed” teaches someone to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control it. Attendees will learn three quick techniques and become empowered to make a potential life or death difference if a bleeding emergency happens.
