Annual Performance and Merit Review

The annual performance and merit review exercise in the Elements Faculty Reporting Tool is designed to accommodate the diverse expectations and practices across departments and schools. Therefore, not all departments/schools will utilize every section of the system. While all faculty are requested to curate the prepopulated activity lists in each section of Stage 1- Record and attach a CV (following head guidance on CV format), the department/school head has flexibility in determining how faculty and reviewers provide narrative responses and attach supporting documents. As a reminder, there are no plans at this time to use the Elements Faculty Reporting Tool for promotion and tenure.

  • Beginning in the 2024-25 AY, all faculty will utilize Elements for the annual performance and merit review process. To use Elements for this process, faculty should complete the following steps:
    1. Watch the training video for Elements Stage 1 – Record in SuccessFactors
    2. Curate calendar year 2024 activity on the Elements homepage modules prior to entering the Stage 1-Record in the Elements review exercise.
    3. Upon accessing the Stage 1- Record in Elements, make use of the hints and training links shown at the beginning of each section.
    4. In each section of Stage 1, begin by scrolling down to the prepopulated information and check it for accuracy and completeness. If edits are needed, exit the reporting exercise and make the needed changes in the Elements homepage.
    5. After verifying the prepopulated information, complete the narrative sections and attach appropriate documentation following the guidance provided by the Department/School Head.
    6. The narrative sections are open text boxes with no character limits and no formatting capabilities. It’s recommended to prepare a draft of the requested narrative information in a Word document for proof-reading and editing prior to entry into the Elements record. Text from Word documents can be copied and pasted into the open text boxes.
    7. Attach a recent CV in the last section.
