Community Action Day to benefit new ACE Campus Food Pantry
August 28, 2015
Purdue's Civic Engagement and Leadership Development Office, in partnership with Food Finders Food Bank and the Baptist Student Foundation, will address hunger and food insecurity during its Community Action Day benefiting the new ACE Campus Food Pantry on Saturday (Aug. 29).
Faculty, staff and students are invited for a ribbon cutting of the new pantry at 3:15 p.m. at the Baptist Student Foundation, 200 N. Russell St. The pantry, coordinated by Sigma Pi, Food Finders Food Bank and the Civic Engagement and Leadership Development Office, will support Purdue students, faculty and staff along with community members as a part of the Food Finders network. The pantry will be open 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays.
Those attending will learn more about the pantry before doing support work such as stocking shelves and canvassing local businesses to educate the community about the pantry. Attendees are also encouraged to bring donations for the pantry, including boxed cereals, pasta, canned goods, juices, peanut butter, boxed rice and potatoes, beans and paper products.
Those interested in participating in the Community Action Day should register here. For more information, contact Vanessa Pacheco, coordinator for civic engagement, at vpacheco@purdue.edu.
