Training series helps employees become stronger job candidates

Talent Acquisition in Human Resources is offering a four-part training series -- Moving Forward in Four. The series is for current employees who would like to strengthen their candidacy for career opportunities at Purdue.

Participants will move through four sessions that are designed to build upon one another, so those who sign up should plan to take part in all four sessions. Sessions include:

Create Your Path
July 23 (W). 10-11 a.m. Mann Hall, Room 203
You work at Purdue, so you already have a great start on your path to a strong career. Now make sure your future Purdue path keeps you focused on doing something that you enjoy and excel at to make your career goals a reality. Attend this session to learn the basics of the hiring process at Purdue and to recognize what makes you unique. Then use this information to begin identifying positions that move you toward your ideal job.

Resume Builder
July 30 (W). 10-11 a.m. Mann Hall, Room 203
What will get your resume and cover letter noticed? At this session, you'll learn how to build a strong resume and compose a cover letter that will highlight your work-related knowledge and experience. In addition to discussing tips and trends, we'll also bust some well-established but untrue resume myths.

The Interview
Aug. 6 (W). 10-11 a.m. Mann Hall, Room 203
How do you prepare for the interview? This session will focus on situational interviewing, plus ways to use the job posting to identify potential questions you'll be asked. You'll also learn how to develop questions to ask your interviewers. This session will help you walk into your next interview more prepared and more confident, resulting in a more positive experience.

Workshop
Aug. 13 (W). 10-11:30 a.m. (note extended time). Mann Hall, Room 203
The session will give you a chance to apply the knowledge you've gained from the previous sessions. You'll meet individually with Talent Acquisition professionals to have your resume reviewed, and you'll participate in a mock interview. You'll receive constructive feedback on your resume and interviewing skills.
