Website for life sciences at Purdue debuts

December 15, 2014

Purdue's growing life sciences enterprise is highlighted in a new website.

Located at www.purdue.edu/research/life-sciences, it is designed to showcase the depth and breadth of Purdue's life sciences programs to funding agencies, prospective graduate students and faculty members, and potential collaborators. Information is included on graduate education, academics, core facilities and research centers and institutes.

"We have enormous strengths in the life sciences on campus, with graduate programs, for example, housed in eight different colleges," says Donna Fekete, professor of biological sciences. "The website will facilitate faculty and graduate student recruitment by providing users with a broad overview of expertise."

The website also will promote interdisciplinary research collaborations, says R. Graham Cooks, the Henry B. Hass Distinguished Professor of Chemistry. "We have deep strengths in both basic and applied sciences, and in 25 different life sciences disciplines, all of which positions us to capitalize on national efforts in such areas as neuroscience, immunology and infectious diseases, epigenetics, food security and obesity," he says.

The website is a work in progress. In order to facilitate the greatest use for the website, input from life sciences stakeholders across Purdue's campus is welcome. Send comments to Perry Kirkham at pkirkham@purdue.edu
