Teaching portfolio, philosophy workshop set for Tuesday

December 4, 2014

A workshop on teaching portfolios and teaching philosophies is set for 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 9) in Hicks Undergraduate Library, Room B853. Presented by the Center for Instructional Excellence, the session counts toward instructional development criteria of the Graduate Teacher Certificate Program sponsored by the Purdue Teaching Academy.

Taking a rhetorical approach to the academic genre of the teaching portfolio allows instructors to create effective narratives specific to their audiences and purposes. The session will discuss the components of the teaching portfolio and tools and resources to document teaching effectiveness.

There will be an opportunity to work on teaching philosophies as a way to reflect and craft teaching narrative. Participants should bring a paper copy of the current draft of their teaching philosophy.

The session is free and open to graduate students, faculty members and staff. Participants must register here.
