Co-Rec inviting families, kids to join fun learning programs

The Division of Recreational Sports is offering programs for youth and families in a fun, friendly and educational atmosphere this month and beyond.

Programs are led by qualified instructors. Membership at the Córdova Recreational Sports Center is not required, but the cost is reduced if a parent or family has a membership. All events are at the center, known as the Co-Rec.

Family Yoga
Saturdays, Oct. 25-Dec. 6; 9-10 a.m. (six sessions; no session Nov. 29)
Age 5 and up
Cost: Member, $21 (per person); nonmember, $30 (per person); registration begins Monday (Oct. 13).

This class provides a setting for quality time and bonding while both parent and child explore creativity in movement. The class activities require one adult for each child, and activities will be adapted to accommodate all participants and help them have fun.

Parents' Night Out
Friday, Oct. 17; 6-9 p.m.
Ages 5-12
Cost: Member, $10.50; nonmember, $15; registration is open.

While the parents are away, the kids will play at the Co-Rec. They'll cook in the demonstration kitchen, make crafts and play fun activities.

(Another Parents' Night Out is set for Nov. 7; registration will open Oct. 27.)

Youth Climbing Clinic
Saturday, Oct. 18
11 a.m.-1 p.m. for ages 7-9
1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. for ages 10-12
Cost: Member, $7; nonmember, $12; registration is open.

Qualified leaders introduce children to rock climbing and bouldering, with its physical and mental challenges, in a fun and encouraging environment for acquiring new skills.

(Another pair of climbing clinics is scheduled for Nov. 22; registration will open Nov. 3.)

Youth Soccer Clinic
Saturdays, Oct. 25-Nov. 22; 11-11:45 a.m. (five sessions)
Ages 5-10
Cost: Member, $17.50; nonmember, $35; registration begins Monday (Oct. 13).

Before kids can improve their game, they need to have the solid fundamentals that are the focus of this clinic.
