Carpool permits now available via Parking Facilities

August 4, 2014

Parking Facilities is now offering a carpool permit to individuals who currently hold a valid "A" or "B" parking permit. By using the carpool permit, individuals who regularly commute together have the opportunity to save money on parking.

A carpool is defined as three or more Purdue faculty and/or staff members who drive together as their regular means of commuting between home and the West Lafayette campus.

To get started, determine your carpool partners and complete the Carpool Registration Form to obtain a carpool permit. Each carpool will be assigned one carpool permit to share, and it must be displayed with an "A" or "B" permit. Only one "A" or "B" parking permit must be held per carpool group, and the carpool permit must be held by the individual who pays for that "A" or "B" parking permit.

Once a carpool group has been determined, the individuals who will not hold the carpool permit may return their "A" or "B" parking passes to Parking Facilities. They will either receive a refund (if the total cost of the permit was paid up front and the permit is returned before March 1) or their payroll deductions will cease. The permit holder can then make arrangements with carpoolers to help share the cost of the single remaining permit.

There is no additional fee for the carpool permit.

More information is available by calling Parking Facilities at 49-49497.
